  • Read, think critically and interpret results and information stored in tables, graphs and measurements.
  • Use research (books,experts, internet) to develop a health/fitness programme that will enhance the lifestyle of someone else that is realistic, achievable and can be monitored.

Animation:

Create a teaching resource using iCan Animate to explain how a body system of your choice works (use http://www.brainpop.com/science/diversityoflife/humanbody/ as a guideline for developing an animation)
  • Develop 5 questions about your chosen body system.
  • Research the answers to your questions.
  • Share findings with group members.
  • As a group develop success criteria for your animation
  • Develop a storyboard (frame set) for explaining how your chosen body system works.
  • Create animation.

Scenario:

Develop a Healthy lifestyle and Fitness programme that is realistic and achievable for your avatar using the information they have provided. Your group will need to research about the human body systems that are relevant for healthy living relating to your Avatar and the information they have provided. Present your findings as a weekly time table and using the key elements of an Explanation create an i-movie to explain what will happen to your avatar as they follow your plan.

Penny is Year 8 and walks to school each day. She enjoys cooking and baking, and does a paper run after school. Penny participates in school P.E. lessons but does not play any sport.

John is Year 8 and he bikes to school each day. He enjoys playing the drums and reading books. John plays basket ball for the A team in winter and does athletics in the summer. He is pretty fit however usually runs late for school in the mornings and buys a pie and chips for lunch most days.

Billy is Year 8, he gets a ride to school in the car each day. He enjoys using his computer and spends several hours gaming each day, sometimes whole days in the weekend. Billy has a strict diet because he has allergies, he is allergic to diary, nuts and eggs. Billy likes playing hockey however he often gets sick and misses games.

Donna is Year 8, she walks to school each day. She enjoys hanging out with friends and making crafts. Donna plays netball and goes to swim club but often feels tired and a blood test revealed that she is low in iron.

Peter is Year 8, he catches the bus to school each day. He is a bit over weight and does not really enjoy doing any sport, however he is strong and always wins Shot Put at the clusters. Peters favourite foods are Fish 'n' Chips and Burger King, he eats them whenever possible.

Lilly is Year 8, she bikes to school each day. She likes dancing, txt messaging and fashion. Lilly hates doing sports at school but dances 4 times a week or more when there is a performance coming up. She has asthma and eczema and usually manages these o.k. but sometimes forgets her inhalers. Lilly mostly makes healthy food choices but never eats breakfast and only a very small lunch, however after school she is usually very hungry and eats heaps to catch up for the day.
